đââď¸âď¸ Our First Neighborsâ 5K: 80+ Runners, Big Smiles, and a Very Cold Plunge
On November 29th, just days after the Thanksgiving holiday, we hosted our first-ever Neighborsâ 5K run â and it was everything we hoped for and more. More than 80 runners, walkers, families, and pups showed up to shake off the holiday leftovers, get moving, and share a crisp fall morning together.
Whether you ran your fastest mile, jogged with a friend, or cheered with a warm drink in hand, the morning felt like a joyful reminder of what our community is all about.
đ¤ď¸ A Post-Holiday Morning Full of Energy
Despite the long weekend (and probably some still-digested pie), the energy at the starting line was electric.
People stretched, laughed, layered up, and got ready to move.
Seeing so many familiar faces â plus so many new ones â reminded us why we love hosting events like this. Our neighbors didnât just show up⌠they showed out.
đď¸ Raffle Prizes to Keep the Fun Going
After everyone crossed the finish line, we kept the celebration going with raffle prizes from local partners and from Neighborsâ itself.
The excitement, cheering, and suspense after each name was called gave the morning a perfect community buzz.
Some folks said the raffle alone was worth running for â weâll take it.
âď¸ The Ice Plunge: 10+ Brave Souls Took the Frosty Leap
And then came the moment weâll be talking about for a long time.
More than 10 brave neighbors stepped into our first-ever ice plunge â a shock to the system, a test of courage, and an instant badge of honor.
There were gasps, shrieks, laughs, and a whole lot of âWhy did I agree to this?â
But every single plunger came out smiling (eventually).
This spontaneous highlight added just the right amount of chaos â the good kind â to the event.
đ¤ Why This Run Meant So Much
Hosting a 5K wasnât just about running.
It was about connection.
Coming together right after Thanksgiving felt extra special â a moment to burn off holiday indulgence, reset, and reconnect before Decemberâs whirlwind begins.
This run reaffirmed what we already believe:
Neighborsâ is more than a coffee shop. Itâs a gathering place, a movement, and a community.
đď¸ đ Whatâs Next: Our Holiday-Themed 5K (Costumes Strongly Encouraged!)
Our next run is happening on Saturday, December 20th, and weâre turning it into a full-on holiday celebration.
Hereâs what to expect:
-
A holiday costume contest â prizes for the most festive, creative, or unhinged outfit
-
Festive drinks afterward (yes, the winter menu will be flowing)
-
More raffle prizes
-
More community
-
And possibly⌠yes⌠another ice plunge
Come dressed as your favorite holiday character, winter icon, or anything that jingles, sparkles, or spreads cheer. Whether you run, jog, walk, or just hang out for coffee afterward, youâre part of the fun.
â¤ď¸ Thank You, Neighbors
To everyone who ran, walked, volunteered, plunged, grabbed coffee, or just showed up with a smile â thank you.
Our very first Neighborsâ 5K was unforgettable because of you, and we canât wait to grow this new tradition together.
See you â and your costumes â at the next run.
Your miles, your community, and your coffee just keep getting better.
