Our First Neighbors Book Club Is Official — and We’re Still in Shock 🤍📚

When we first floated the idea of a Neighbors Book Club on Instagram, we genuinely had no idea what would happen.

We shared a simple story asking if people might be interested. The response was immediate and enthusiastic. We followed up with questions about timing and days of the week, and the excitement only grew. Finally, we opened a Google Form so folks could officially reserve a spot… and within a short time, 108 people signed up.

At that point, we had to do something we never expected — close the form. As much as we wish we could host everyone, there’s simply no way we can safely or comfortably fit more than 108 people at the location. To say we’re shocked (and incredibly grateful) would be an understatement.

Thank you for showing up for this idea so fully. Neighbors has always been about creating space for connection, and seeing so many of you excited to gather around books, conversation, and coffee means the world to us.

For our very first read, the group chose The Most Agreeable Murder by Julia Seales — a cozy, clever mystery that feels perfect for winter reading and thoughtful discussion. We can’t wait to hear your theories, favorite moments, and hot takes.

What to Expect

To make the experience feel intentional and welcoming for everyone, here’s what the evening will look like:

  • Small-group discussions to encourage more intimate, meaningful conversation.

  • Name tags for everyone (because neighbors should know each other’s names).

  • Custom Neighbors bookmarks for each attendee — featuring the book title and month, designed to be something you can collect as the book club continues.

  • Coffee available for purchase from our mobile coffee cart set up at the pavilion.

What to Bring

  • Your copy of the book

  • Dress warmly — we’ll be outdoors in the middle of February, so layers are highly encouraged.

  • An open mind, a love of stories, and maybe a favorite quote or passage to share.

What’s Next

For everyone who RSVP’d and shared their email, we’ll be sending weekly follow-up emails leading up to the event with additional details, reminders, and helpful information so you feel fully prepared and excited when the day arrives.

Whether you snagged one of the spots or simply supported the idea from afar, thank you for helping bring this to life. This already feels like something truly special — and it’s only the beginning.

Lastly, we would like to thank our very own Ali Saffell who came up with the idea and will be leading the 1st Neighbors' Book Club.

With so much gratitude,
Your Neighbors 🤍☕️📚
